Communication
Communication is essential for everyday life. You have to be able to encode and decode messages for communication to take place. There are several methods of communication which range from verbal, written or non verbal communication.
Characters of communication:
1. More than one person- one person is sending the message while the other person interprets and receives the message.
2. Exchange of ideas- People have to share their thoughts and feelings to another person to create dialogue.
3. Mutual understanding- the decoder has to understand the message they are given.
4. Direct and Indirect- Two people do not necessarily have to be in person to communication but they can communicate through text messages, email or by any means necessary.
5. Continuous Process- People are constantly exchanging ideas and sharing their feelings. Whether it is in person or through technology, we are always communicating with others.
6. Symbolic- Sign language is an example of symbolic communication. Non verbal ques are also examples of symbolic communication. For instance, holding your finger over your mouth is a symbolic representation of telling someone to lower their voice or stop speaking.
